UCLA Art Sci Center presents Alison Hiltner and her installation, TETHERS, at the UCLA CNSI Art Sci Gallery.
TETHERS is a collaboration with Dr. Paul Iaizzo of the Lillehei Heart Institute and Dr. Brenda Ogle of the Stem Cell Institute at the University of Minnesota. The project explores how sculpture can inform cardiac device creation and how cardiology research can inspire biologically informed art practices.
The installation developed from earlier “Heart and Art” collaborations and includes performative and interactive elements centered around the physical experience of the heartbeat.
About the Artist:
Alison Hiltner’s multimedia practice explores how science fiction cinema shapes our understanding of scientific research and technological development. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Weisman Art Museum, and UCLA Art | Sci Center.
